Problem
Shell's field engineers in Bangalore and remote experts in Amsterdam diagnosed plant issues over fragmented tools. Dashboards on one screen, a digital twin on another, and a phone call describing geometry by voice. No shared spatial context meant critical decisions hinged on verbal descriptions, costing time, accuracy, and expensive downtime.
Solution
A multiplayer XR layer built on Shell's existing Digital Twin, deployed on Meta Quest Pro. Engineers and remote SMEs enter the same virtual plant simultaneously, pointing at the same valve, annotating in 3D, and sharing synchronized documents. One admin drives navigation while participants work privately, then push findings to the shared space when ready.
